Creative Writer
As a writer known for my raw, lyrical storytelling that cuts to the core of what it means to be human, I am the author of three poetry and flash nonfiction collections and currently working on a memoir (DYCP grant) and new collection of poems. Over the years my work has been published in Magma and Mslexia, featured on Radio Four and projects The Journeys I Never Took (2017), Singing My Mother’s Song (2019) and Seventeen (2021), were all funded by the Arts Council, U.K. All of my three collections were illustrated by the brilliant Anna Higgie.
I have read my writing in numerous venues, including the Royal Albert Hall, the Natural History Museum, Southbank Centre, in Romania, Turkey, Sweden, South Africa and America. I have performed my work at poetry festivals such as Ledbury, Cheltenham, Bath Lit Fest, Glastonbury and Womad and written commissions for organisations such as Radio Four, Chelsea Flower Show and Nowness.
